Citrus Inspired Styled Shoot at Conestoga House and Gardens

Sometimes when we walk into a new space we’re instantly inspired by its potential as an event space, which is exactly how we felt the first time we laid eyes on The Orangery at Conestoga House and Gardens. The floor to ceiling windows? The black and white tile floor? Absolutely smitten. Luckily our friend and photographer extraordinaire Alison Conklin was with us for this visit and she was also falling head over heels. So we did what any sensible wedding professionals would do and started looking for a reason to have a styled shoot there!

The opportunity to put together a shoot presented itself soon after when BHLDN approached Alison about capturing images of their new collection. Talk about a match made in heaven! We teamed up with Sarah from Allium Floral Design, a beautiful and up-for-anything real life couple, Kiandra & Jordan, and an amazing team of creatives to bring our vision to life.

The name ‘Orangery’ comes from the original 1700s owners of the house who used the room to grow citrus during the winter months. We loved this little historical tidbit and it provided the perfect jumping off point for our concept. Imagining what the space would have looked like filled with citrus trees, we designed an organic, elegant editorial to really showcase the beauty of The Orangery. We mixed soft citrus colors with grays, blacks and whites on the dining table to create something fresh and unexpected and Zoe from Whipped Bakeshop adorned a four tiered mimosa flavored cake with hand dipped dehydrated slices of grapefruit, blood orange, lemon and navel oranges. (The cake really stole the show if you ask us!!)

All in all it was a gorgeous day with an all star team and we’re so grateful to have been a part of it! If you’re interested in checking out Conestoga House and Gardens for yourself they do have ticketed admission during the week! And if you’re looking for a sweet space to host, say, 50 of your nearest and dearest? You should definitely check them out.
